This story be a movie…

I was an Au Pair when I fell in love with my host dad. Cliche, right?

Yes, a bit. Usually these types of love stories only have a happy ending in a movie…

And it wasn’t easy. It took years of us having a distance relationship and many people around us telling us that there was no future for our love…

But we did it. We got through this and got married 3 years later. Our first son was born 12 months after.

How did we get through this time of uncertainty and little support?

I believe that things happen for a reason. I felt that if we both committed and would make it through a hard time like that, we would be meant to be together.

Greg had to make the big decision to leave his family with two young children and go through a divorce for us to be able to be together. In the meantime I was in Germany and finished my studies to be a teacher with a 2 year long apprenticeship kind of teacher job.

And still we managed to see each other in every break I got from school, about 4 times a year. Our love was deepening and I decided to leave my friends and family in Germany and try the unknown in a different country, 3,700 miles away.

We lived a seemingly happy almost ‘normal’ small family life for 10 years, but the past couple of years have not been easy.

I have been heavily working on myself and my limiting beliefs and mindsets and when one person in a relationship is all of a sudden shaking things up and going deep into self development, it’s not easy for the relationship.

Either the partner grows with the other one or things get very difficult. And it did.

But I am very lucky that my husband took the challenges on. He is a very smart, empathetic, understanding, creative, determined and loving soul.

Today we are on a trip around the world with our beautiful sons.

There is nothing that is impossible in our lives. We are committed to strive for the best version of ourselves. Every day we decide anew to create a life that we love.

I fall more deeply in love with my husband every day.

I am a hundred percent sure that we are meant to be together and enlighten each other in being mirrors to the other one.

It feels very good to have found my soulmate, even if it took me a while and stepping into my power to understand this.

With much love, Annika <3
